Backend Engineer
We're looking for a backend engineer to build and operate the systems behind ARC Prize's next-gen AGI benchmark, ARC-AGI-3. Projects include our game engine services, public API, and internal researcher tools. This is a remote role either full-time or contract.
- Strong backend engineering (Python with experience in Go)
- Building and running APIs/services (auth, rate limiting, queues, caching)
- Database experience (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB)
- DevOps fundamentals: Terraform, CI/CD, containers, observability (logs/metrics/traces)
- Working knowledge of Next.js/React to wire up basic UIs and admin tools
- Terraform module design for AWS deployments
- Real-time/game or simulation backends (WebSocket, state sync, tick loops)
- Experience serving researcher tooling and AI benchmarking/experiment pipelines
- Performance profiling and cost-aware scaling (autoscaling, load testing)
- Security hardening (secrets management, sensitive private data)

Game Developer
We're looking for a creative Python game developer to help us create fun and challenging mini-games. This is a contract position for a remote game development role.
- Strong Python programming
- 2 years of game development experience
- Strong understanding of game mechanics
- Version Control fundamentals (git)
- Excellent time management
- Python programming experience
- AI programming/training experience
- Game design skills (puzzles)
- HTML/web development
